Ohio Star Theater at Dutch Valley, gateway to Amish Country Ohio, will stage the new musical “Josiah for President” from August 22 through December 19. This musical, the third created by Blue Gate Musicals, was adapted for the stage by its author, Martha Bolton. Emmy-nominated Bolton has written over 40 books, worked for numerous comedians, and has also helped write speeches for several U.S. presidents.
“Josiah for President” tells the story of Pennsylvania Amish farmer Josiah Stoltzfus and his run for president of the United States after being tapped as a write-in candidate by a congressman impressed with his common sense and honesty. Can a plain man of faith turn the tide of politics and become the leader of America? What will he have to risk to do it?
This Broadway-style musical is produced by Mel Riegsecker and Dan Posthuma, with original music by its director Wally Nason, and a cast drawn from around the United States and Canada.
