The Inn at Honey Run in Millersburg held a grand opening for its Open Air Art Museum, an outdoor art gallery that features the work of local and regional artists. Set in a hilly, wooded sanctuary with hiking trails, the Inn at Honey Run uses its rolling landscape as the gallery for the artwork.
The first installment is a Haiku Path with a series of haiku poems engraved on metal plaques that are embedded in large rocks along the trail. This installation was coordinated in a partnership with the Haiku Society of America. Julie Warther, a representative of the Society, said, “The haiku path will carry the reader through a full Midwestern year, encountering drifting feathers, a ruffle of fresh mushrooms, pictures in the clouds, meadow wildflowers, autumn leaves, the taps of a woodpecker, footprints in the snow and stars reflected in an icicle, to name a few.”
Launching the Open Air Art Museum is a longtime goal for the Inn at Honey Run’s proprietor, Jason Nies, who said, “I’ve always enjoyed working with artists and art, and now I get to share that with the people of Holmes County and the wider world.”
